Nia classes at Dance Place San Diego
What to Expect
Every Nia class starts with a warm-up, includes cardio movement, and ends with a cool-down, often including stretches and relaxation on the floor.
Most classes include a variety of martial arts moves mixed with dance moves that may be fast, slow, loose, flowing, jazzy, funky, or freeform. We always have a fun mixture of music, and set a particular focus for the class. Beginners are always welcome. Each person can adapt the moves to fit what your own body needs. If it feels good, you’re doing it right!
What do you need for a Nia class?
- Clothes that will let you move freely – and sweat!
- A water bottle
- A yoga mat for the floor-play, if you wish
- Nia is designed to be barefoot, but you’re welcome to bring athletic or dance shoes if that is more comfortable.
